The criticism I hear most often about the pro-"life" movement is that being pro-life is about "more than that [abortion]" and therefore, those who focus on anti-abortion and call it pro-life are ignoring capital punishment, lack of health care, the war, and a myriad of social justice issues that affect "life."
I think these people are splitting hairs and looking for an excuse to not make themselves sound anti-baby. Choosing a life name appeals to me because it's commonly associated with the anti-abortion position, but my concern is the same problem would plague this project if given a simple life name.
What do you think? Should we avoid a name with life in it to keep our cause simple and direct?

Definately not. Anti-Aboriton, is in it's very essence pro-life. Yes there are other issues under the pro-life category, but that doesn't change the fact that fighting abortion is a pro-life thing to do. People who seem to have problems with calling it "pro-life", most likely have been struggling with how to justify placing less importance and immediacy on the abortion issue.
I think its goes something like this.
An Anti-Abortion ideology is pro-life. Fighting for the lives of unborn children is clearly a defense of life.
I would be totally willing to call any organization dedicated to saving unborn children a pro-life organization.
What I am unwilling to say is that the Democrats or Republicans are either pro-life. Find me a pacifistic party that abhors murder, torture, abortion, and war. It doesn't exist. Not here, not now, anyway.
Anyway, to answer your origional question. I think you are part of the pro-life movement. You aren't the whole thing... which is fine... but definatly part of it.
